CRISTIANO GIUSTI
Drummer
B i o g r a p h y
I was born in Sesto San Giovanni in September 1975 and discovered my love for playing the drums at the age of 27.
..but in truth, rhythm has always been in my blood...
As a child, before I even touched a drum set, anything that could produce a sound became my percussion instrument...you can ask my mom for proof!
I’ve been playing the drums for 18 years now, and I plan to continue for the rest of my life.
Like many beginners, I initially tried to teach myself how to play. However, after just two months, I realized I needed professional guidance. I was incredibly fortunate to find the perfect teacher almost immediately ...Valerio, an exceptional jazz drummer and the best drum instructor I’ve ever met. He taught me everything I know today and sparked my passion for jazz. While I still have much to learn about this genre, my goal remains to keep improving.
I took lessons for 4–5 years at two different music schools before continuing to refine my skills at home. Even now, I enjoy spending my free time working on my technique.
Over the years, I’ve played in various cover bands, collaborating with many talented musicians who helped me improve significantly. Some of my fondest memories come from live sessions with R. Cerini, a close friend and phenomenal guitarist. Together, we performed in "The Maguts" band. Later, I joined "EasyJack," followed by other bands that allowed me to explore a variety of musical genres.
My musical influences are diverse, spanning Rock, Blues, Pop, Fusion, Swing, and Jazz from the 1940s–1960s, among others. Today, I play with the "SunRise on the Road" band, where we share our passion for folk, bluegrass, country, and similar styles in unique venues and settings.
My favorite drummers, who continue to inspire me, include Jeff Porcaro (TOTO), Benny Greb, Dave Weckl, Simon Phillips, Jeff Hamilton, Peter Erskine, Steve Gadd, and David Garibaldi.
